How to Calculate Fragrance Oil for Candles
Fragrance load is expressed as a percentage of total fill weight (wax + fragrance combined), not just wax weight. At 8% load on 500g wax: total fill = 500 ÷ 0.92 = 543.5g. Fragrance = 543.5 × 0.08 = 43.5g.
What Fragrance Load Should You Use?
- 6%: Light scent, good for delicate fragrances
- 8%: Standard for most soy wax blends
- 10%: Strong scent throw, popular for commercial production
- 12%+: Maximum — only if your wax supports it
